English Speech Competition 2022

Objectives: 

To improve the English proficiency and public speaking skills of post-secondary school students in Hong Kong and cultivate students’ interest in English.

Eligibility:

Current post-secondary school students in Hong Kong

Awards:

The Adjudicating Panel will select one grand prize, one 1st runner-up, one 2nd runner-up, and five merit awards.

Winners will be awarded bookstore coupons and certificates.

Submission Period:

Now to 31 May 2022

Submission Format:

An Mp4 video with no less than 3 minutes and not exceeding 5 minutes. The video also must show the contestant’s half/full body. Only photos or graphs are allowed in the speech/presentation.

Submission Instructions:

1. The submission will be considered an agreement to all the respective terms and conditions of the competition. 
2. Please make your application through email to elcc@chuhai.edu.hk, specifying your name in English, phone number, and college/university, on or before 31 May 2022. Please specify “Application for Speech Festival” on the email subject line.
3. All submissions should be the original work of the contestant. Plagiarism or any other form of academic misrepresentation or violation of intellectual property rights will result in immediate disqualification.

Rules of Competition:

1. The organizer reserves the right to disqualify an entry or recover any prize awarded if the contestant or entry is found to have infringed any conditions of the competition, any copyright, or the laws of Hong Kong, or contains any insinuation or libel, violence, pornography, abusive languages, indecency, obscenity, offensive languages, and behaviors.
2. The copyright of all entries belongs to the organizer. The organizer has the right to duplicate, issue, display, transmit, promote, use, upload to the Internet the video clips, photos, and all the entries and details of the winners, including names, school names and use them for correspondence and communication purposes.
3. The organizer has the final decision on all matters concerning the terms and conditions of the competition and reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time at its discretion without prior notice.
